The "Centre Especial de Recerca Planta de Tecnologia dels Aliments" is devoted to the development of food quality and to technology transfer to food industry enterprises. CERPTA is formed by the study and research center Centre d'Innovació, Recerca i Transferència en Tecnologies dels Aliments (CIRTTA) and the Planta de Tecnologia dels Aliments service (SPTA), both belonging to the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
Our main area of work is the application of new technologies, nanotechnologies and technofunctionality for the improvement of food safety and the nutritional value and design of the product, and for the production of functional foods.
Our intention is to transfer this technology to enterprises to help them become more competitive and profitable, so that they may produce and commercialize new products that are safer and more healthy with an improved stability.
CERPTA has a curriculum of more than 130 international publications, the participation in more than 200 R+D contracts with private businesses and more than 30 competitive research projects.
The center has a clear international vocation and recently two new technological centers have been created, one in Angola(CEPTA) and the other in Uruguay (UITA), increasing the connection and transfer of knowledge with Africa and South America.
